The Best Choice Why?
Teaching Experience
I'm an experienced teacher. I worked in nursery, kindergarten, grade 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, SY1, guidance counsellor, special education, EAL, adult education, resource teacher, substitute, term and teacher contractor positions, in rural Franco-Manitoba, rural Mennonite Manitoba, a parochial religious school, a penitentiary, First Nations communities and within Winnipeg 1 SD.
I worked as a university teacher with B. Ed. students at the University of Winnipeg and University College of the North.
I've been in a position of elected leadership as Vice-President Academic of my Graduate Students Association.
As a trustee, I know that I need to prepare. I need to do my homework, ask questions, dig deeper, and be ready for meetings.
I will join committees and maintain a presence in the community.
I will act in the best interests of the students, parents and taxpayers.
Leadership
About Me
As a life-long Winnipeger, who was schooled in mostly WSD schools, I feel a deep connection to public education. Most recetly I worked at Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre as a learning assessment specialist.
I will bring my strong knowledge of assessment to the trusteeship to guide sound decisions at the board level.
I will also bring my knowledge of learning technologies which I studied as a doctoral student. WSD needs to be a forefront of the changes to learning and teaching.
I am the mother of two adult children and live in Ward 1.
